For all practical purposes the Yellowstone has now entered the stage for full spring runoff. With temps in the high 60’s and 70’s this week (and a little projected rain) we’ll be looking to fish the Spring Creeks, tailwaters, and lakes for a while. If you do choose to float be sure to check behind you constantly as the fabled and dangerous cottonwood hatch is about to begin, the last thing you want is a huge log smashing into your stern. If you are out harvesting morels, be sure to fully cook them down.
CFS is on the steep rise now. Snow pack is currently sitting at 77% in the upper Yellowstone Basin. We expect to back fishing the Yellowstone as early as mid June, although it we get more spring rain, likely late June as always. In the meantime we’ll be guiding on the Paradise Valley Spring Creeks, the lower Madison, and private lakes. Give us a call if you’d like to book a trip! 1-406-222-7130.
