For the most part we are in post-spawn mode on the Yellowstone and the Spring Creeks. There will be exceptions of course, especially on the spring creeks where warmer water is consistently flowing from the aquifers. If you fish the creeks please avoid fishing to actively spawning trout. Often you will find fish staging and feeding below the redds. As always, if you cross the spring creek, please choose a spot where you are not walking on the spawning beds. Midges are the main hatch on the Yellowstone and creeks and will remain the main course for several months now. The trick is finding a warm “enough” day without “too much” wind. That can be challenging in the Livingston area to say the least. Feel free to give us a call for a wind or ice report. 1-406-222-7130.
