We’ve had some squirrelly weather in SW Montana this week. No spike on the Lamar as of yet, so there might not be any mud coming from the recent rain/hail storms. Water temps have ranged anywhere from 58 to 70 on the Yellowstone. The morning bite still seems to have a slight edge over the afternoon, but there have been a few nice fish getting caught on hoppers in the afternoon. Some guides have switched to two nymphs in the morning, some are fishing with a dry dropper set up of some kind. The spring creeks have been consistently cooler with decent PMD and Sulphur hatches. Now that Yellowstone National Park has lifted the hoot-owl in the NE section of the park we’ve had some good terrestrial fishing in the afternoons. Give us a call to book a trip! 1-406-222-7130.
